A Look at the Benefits of Team Sports for Kids

Baseball Catcher 01

Team sports are an integral part of the junior high experience at Campbell Christian Schools. Our Campbell Christian Eagles compete as part of the Bay Area Christian School Athletic League, which brings together 24 Christian schools from across the area. Students in grades 4-7 are invited to compete in football, softball, basketball, and more. We’re proud to offer these opportunities to our students because of the rewards they can reap from being part of a team. If your child joins one of our teams, here are some of the ways he or she will benefit.

Improved Health and Fitness
With the ever-increasing pull of electronic devices and video games, it is harder than ever to get kids to be active. Taking part in a sport gets kids away from the screen and onto the field, where they will get active while having fun. While playing their sport, kids also learn valuable lessons about the benefits of staying fit that they will keep with them throughout life.

Increased Self-Esteem
Playing sports is all about conquering new challenges and reaching goals. You will see your child’s self-confidence soar as he or she learns how much can be achieved through hard work and determination. The more accomplishments kids achieve on the field, the more confident they feel, which can help them face down challenges in the classroom, with friends, and beyond.

Positive Values
Team sports teach the importance of practice, responsibility to others, and cooperation. Your child will be surrounded by peers who are also committed to working hard for the team and led by a mentor who shows how much can be achieved through self-discipline. These values will help your child as he or she continues in school and enters the workforce.

Encourage your child to get involved in team sports at Campbell Christian Schools. We provide a range of after-school activities to keep the students at our private school engaged. Core Values at Campbell Christian Schools

At Campbell Christian Schools, we’re focused on creating a school environment that is academically rigorous and supportive of our students’ Christian faith. We are guided by a set of core values that shapes our curriculum and all of our school activities. These core values help us stay consistently on the right path towards our goals for our students.

Cooperation between the school administration, teachers, and parents to facilitate our students’ education and faith is our first core value. Mutual encouragement and a commitment to promoting Christian principles are key. We aim to educate children of all abilities, as long as the individual students are being benefited, and to balance the needs of individuals with the classroom as a whole. Biblical values are integrated into lessons as appropriate, and we believe that having a staff with evident Christian faith is essential to our students’ growth. We also believe in performing outreach missions as a school to help students develop a sense of social responsibility.

Test Taking Tips for Junior High Students

In junior high, the tests start getting a little more intense. Students often need to learn new study techniques to prepare for demanding tests while juggling the rest of their schoolwork and activities. The tips in this video will help.

Start by carving out a quiet, distraction-free place to do your work. Instead of waiting until the night before the test, make notecards and review them nightly for a week or so before the big day so you don’t have to cram at the last minute.

At Campbell Christian Schools, our teachers are committed to instilling conscientious work habits in all of our students to help them succeed in and out of the classroom. Learn more about the programs at our private school in Campbell by calling (408) 370-4900.

Expected Student Outcomes at CCS

At Campbell Christian Schools, we have a very specific set of goals we hope to achieve with all of our students. These expected outcomes are designed to help students grow academically and spiritually at our Christian school. Here is a look at some of the benchmarks we use for our curriculum.

First and foremost, we foster Christ-centered spirituality in our students. We want our students to know and understand Jesus Christ and all of his lessons. We also want them to demonstrate this understanding through their actions towards others. We instill in our students a lifelong love of learning and the self-confidence to communicate effectively. Developing respect and character is a central aim of our program, and we also teach students to respect their bodies by teaching healthy habits.

Do you share these learning goals for your children? If so, choose Campbell Christian Schools for their education. We’re happy to answer all of your questions about our private school in Campbell, so call us today at (408) 370-4900.

Why Send Your Child to a Christian School?

When your child reaches school age, you have a difficult decision to make in finding the right school. However, for many families, there is only one option: a Christian school. Christian schools offer academic excellence combined with the religious foundation you can’t get in public schools. If you’re trying to select a school for your child, consider these benefits of choosing a Christian education.

Christianity-Focused Curriculum
Religion is largely banned from the classroom in public schools. In a Christian school, it is the basis of the curriculum. All lessons and school activities are designed with Christian values in mind. Learning about the Bible and God’s work is part of the curriculum. Children are taught service and Christian stewardship from a young age to help guide them towards their future responsibilities as Christian adults. These are things they can’t get in other kinds of schools.

Academic Rigor
Students in Christian schools consistently outperform their peers academically. In addition to Christian school students outpacing their public school counterparts on standardized testing, there is evidence that the achievement gap—the gap that exists between the performance of kids from lower-income families and those from middle- to high-income families—is much smaller in Christian schools than in public schools. Investing in a Christian education is investing in your child’s future.

Shared Values
For most parents, one of the biggest concerns they have about sending their kids to school is who they will encounter in the classroom. At a Christian school, you have the comfort of knowing that the school administration and teachers share your beliefs and values. While no school is immune to behavioral and social issues, these problems tend to be less extreme in Christian schools because students and staff alike share a common set of values.
